Second Saturdays: Last Full Measure, Turning Violet Violet, and Wildebeast
11/12/2011
7:30 PM - 11:59 PM
Cedar Street Studios
Philadelphia, PA 19134

We are honored to be hosting a CD release party for Last Full Measure, whose phenomenal new LP was recorded at Cedar Street Studios. The caliber of the songwriting and arranging on this album is almost unbelievable. Not only are his songs some of the most impressive we’ve ever heard, but a talented performer the likes of LFM’s Brendan Walseben is a rare pleasure to behold. He haunts and rocks as he mixes guitars that are at once soothing and scathing with vocals that draw you in and won’t release you, even after the music stops.

Turning Violet Violet, often acknowledged for their diverse instrumentation and unconventional stories, had been described as a band that “merges chamber-pop, jazzy textures, and quirky, literate storytelling in sharp and elegant arrangements [Michael Alan Goldberg, Philly weekly]“. Their live show is a spectacle in itself with colorful instruments, passionate performing, and…well… a lot of violet.

Wildebeast offer up an intense, slow-burn type of show. Sam Morales’ impressively crafted songs and solid, smokey delivery are transfixing and transporting.
